With a Rippey flip to cap it off, Red Gerard takes the top spot at the U.S. Grand Prix in Aspen Snowmass, punching his ticket to the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea with Team USA. Battling all types of weather, which even resulted in the closing of the third jump, Gerard laced his second run, putting him 4 points ahead of the field. Second and third were decided by less than one tenth of a point, giving Japan’s Hiroaki Kunitake and New Zealand’s Tiarn Collins some hardware as well. Everyone’s favorite new snowboarder Rene Rinnekangas had a great showing as well, just landing outside of the podium in fourth. Enjoy their winning runs above, and stay tuned for more 2018 Winter Olympic coverage on the race to PyeongChang right here on TransWorld SNOWboarding. Congrats Red!
