Dan Brisse Full Part From Defenders Of Awesome 2: Stay Bad Ass By Capita

There are few riders in the caliber of Dan Brisse. The mid-west power house continually steps to more death defying stunts then Evel Knievel. So much so that the lovable hashtag #brissespots has been created by his fans. This year Dan took to the streets early in the season filming for real snow. Around the end of January he broke his collar bone while filming in Minnesota (see video). Luckily he was able to recover quickly and film some shots in the backcountry by spring. We are sure that Brisse had a great summer and has some more crazy spots in line for us this year.

Who did you have the best session with this year? I had a few good ones with the Capita crew, Paxson, Bjorn, Killer, Shane Ruprecht and Krister Ralles.

What was the hardest trick to land in this video part? Probably the switch hardway 450.  That was the first time I had ever done that trick and it took me all day to get.

Where did you go on your favorite trip this year? I didn’t travel all that much last year… I was in the midwest for the majority of my early season and then I slipped out on this rail in Minnesota and broke my collar bone mid January and my season pretty much ended.  Whistler was probably the highlight of my travels last year late season…

When did you feel on top of the world this year? When I landed that switch hardway 450.

When did you feel like you wanted to give up? When I broke my collar bone.

How many flights did you miss? None. I hate missing flights so bad… makes me real mad…  I won’t go into it too deep… but this one time my wife missed a flight when we just started dating (I wasn’t even on it) and it almost ended our relationship … haha  Yeah pretty lame huh… I know.

Why do you love snowboarding? I’d have to say because of the feeling I get when I am riding… It’s just so dang fun to cruise around and do little moves on your board at the hill and it’s fun to hit massive features that scare you until you grease them… I like that there are no real rules too… no ones trying to control you. I also like battling through tricks actually… I like getting to a spot and wondering if I can do something and then working my way through it in my mind… that challenge has become more fun over the years. A lot of times it’s about breaking it down mentally and working your way into the spot or the trick and then finally really going for it after some practice time. I like that it consumes my mind at times too and can give me this major sense of purpose and focus at certain times of the year…  I can’t really put a specific on it I guess… it’s the whole package.

What’s next for you?  I am working on filming my X Games Real Snow part until January 15th. This year the parts will air on ABC March 7th as more of a TV show format. I am super stoked on my crew and the people I have surrounding me to help make the part become a reality… Without a good crew and sponsor support system, none of this is possible.  Big thanks to Melissa, Zealand, Justin, Dan, Josh, Drew, Krister, Bjorn and to all of my sponsors.

Sponsors? Volcom, Capita, Rockstar, GoPro, Union, Deeluxe, Dye, Celtek, Footprint Insoles, Magical GoGo and TYSS.
