Bjorn Leines’ Full Part From Nothing To Prove The New Movie From Celtek

Bjorn Leines has been graced to have a pro career longer then most. Putting out hammer video part after hammer video part. This year he took the matter into his own hands by using the company he co owns (Celtek) to create a snowboard movie (Nothing To Prove). And even though this might be his first stab at making a movie, everything turned out great. Bjorn’s full part is heavy urban hits and big backcountry features. A true snowboarders part.

Interview by Ben Birk

Who did you have the best session with this year?

So many fun crews this season, tough to pick one session… Riding with Biittner and Chris Grenier in the backcountry was a good time. One of the funnest resort days though was at Snowbird with Dave Doman, Deadlung, and Biittner. Awesome conditions with new snow just pushing each other and sending it while doing tram laps.

What was the hardest trick to land in this video part?

Dunno, probably landing this frontside redirect wall ride. Ice and impact were the main factors.

Where did you go on your favorite trip this year?

I think my favorite trip was when we camped in the zone  in northern Utah. It was Leland’s and my birthday’s hanging with an amazing crew!

When did you feel on top of the world this year?

After recovering from getting broke off and shredding pow with Grendie’s up on Gaurdsman’s Pass in Utah. Good conditions and some quality air time!

Tell us about breaking both of your wrist (fucking gnarly)?

I went down hard on this water tower quarter pipe which resulted in 2 broken wrists, one broken arm, 2 surgeries, and about 12 weeks of rehab. It sucked to say the least, lets just say it made going to the bathroom interesting for awhile. Luckily they healed up, I got to ride some pow, and I don’t have any longterm side effects from the crash.

When did you feel like you wanted to give up?

I can’t remember. Getting hurt was a wake up call. You know like a hot pot of coffee to the face kind of wake up.

How many flights did you miss?

Why do you love snowboarding?

Because of the freedom. That feeling of being free to just be a in a state of mind enjoying the ride, and reacting to your surroundings in the mountains.

What’s next for Bjorn?

Winter is next! But until then I will be traveling doing some premiers for “Nothing to Prove,” working on Celtek, and getting ready for the season. Once it snows we will be heading off in a new film direction documenting some crazy stories alongside some of my favorite shredders as we journey to check off our all-time shred wish list of  tricks, locations, crews and experiences, in the project titled “Bucket List.”  The way I figure it  everyone has a “Bucket List” whether you write them down and cross them off the list is up to you. A big NEXT for me would be being able to go ride pow at  Bald Face Lodge up in Nelson, B.C. Canada!

Huge thanks to my sponsors for the all the support and for giving me the opportunity to be working closely with like minded, passionate snowboarders that care! Everyone at ROME SDS, UNDER ARMOUR, CELTEK, DYE OPTICS, PRO TEC, STANCE, THE YOUTH SHELTER SUPPLY CO, REMIND INSOLES, resorts SNOWBIRD, BRIGHTON, and PARK CITY.
