The Main Event Hits The Slopes Of Loon Mtn.

Lincoln, New Hampshire—Earn points towards a wildcard spot to the 2006 U.S. Open of Snowboarding during the second stop of The Main Event Snowboard Series held at Loon Mountain on Saturday, January 28. This is the only series on the East Coast that offers an automatic invitation to the U.S. Open Slopestyle competition for the top two point leaders of the series. While the U.S. Open wildcard spot is for the professional class only, amateurs are welcome to participate.

Registration is held the day of the event from 8 — 9:30 a.m. in the Octagon Lodge and is limited to the first 100 competitors. Competition is broken up into am and pro divisions with a $50 registration fee for am and $60 for pro. Competition will take place on a “mini slopestyle” course using one jump and one rail in the Loon Mountain Park above the superpipe beginning at 10 a.m. The top nine riders from each group will advance to “The Main Event final and given three runs in a jam format. The Judges will be looking at the three critical areas of performance; execution, difficulty, and style.

Prizes are awarded to top amateur riders and pros will be competing for cash prizes. Other podium placers in the pro division will win a free entry into the following competition held at Wachusett Mountain. The series finals will be held at Waterville Valley Resort on March 4 and each rider must complete in two prior contests with final standings in order to qualify for the Waterville Valley finals.
