Riding out the Storm in Scotland

RIDING OUT THE STORM IN SCOTLANDRed Bull Rail Storm, Scotland – Saturday 25th September 2004 –

Bringing snowboarding from the mountains and taking it to the streets, Red Bull Rail Storm, takes over Glasgow City Center on Saturday the 25th of September, as the UK’s biggest urban rail snowboarding event. George Square will be transformed into the perfect arena for the first urban snowboarding rail contest. In addition to 14 amateur UK competitors taking part, the event will see 24 international riders from; UK, USA, Austria, Finland, France, Germany, Holland and Switzerland compete in this original street jam session (riders tba).

In the run up to the event, riders will be chosen in a series of qualifiers in conjunction with the Orange AIM Series. These will take place in; Midlothian (21/22 August), Castleford, (4th September) and Milton Keynes (18th September). Riders taking first and second positions will automatically qualify for the event, plus eight UK wild card entries.

Red Bull Rail Storm will see the competitors showcasing their skills, as they negotiate a giant staircase consisting of three rails and two curved boxes, culminating in an action packed knockout event, complimented with ongoing entertainment from live music. Some 3,500 spectators are expected to attend this free event, however tickets are required beforehand and will be available from the official website later in August – www.redbullrailstorm.co.uk.
