It was a crazy weekend at the Hintertux Glacier in the Zillertal Valley of Tyrol, Austria. It started with 70 centimeters of fresh snow, a perfect park, and a sunny Sunday. According to those who were there, “The snowfall at the beginning of October was like in the deepest winter.”

“When we looked out the window that morning bluebird deluxe was awaiting us. We saw what we could not see the days before: The whole Finkenberg-Tux Arena was a beautiful winter wonderland and the mountain had perfect conditions for a start into the new season. And today was a day every season should start with: Powder runs on the slopes for the early birds (it’s a bad idea to go riding in the backcountry in autumn because of the hidden crevasses) and a phat international park session in a top shaped setup from the crew—just perfect! The super pipe was perfectly shaped too and the riders could rock its total length of 390 feet.”
