Delerue and Jacobellis Triumph in Season’s first Snowboard Cross Event

Favorites win in Chile: In Valle Nevado, two riders captured the top spots of the season’s first Snowboard Cross podium of the NOKIA Snowboard FIS World Cup 2005/2006, who were dominating the last winter as well. French 2005 World Cup winner Xavier Delerue underlined his outstanding performance finishing all of his heats first. In the final, Delerue crossed the finish line ahead of current World Champion Seth Wescott from the USA. Sylvian Duclos (FRA) came in third. Jasey Jay Anderson from Canada was fourth.

In the ladies’ competition, nearly the same nations were part of the final. Besides Snowboard Cross World Champion 2005 Lindsey Jacobellis (USA), who will start in today ‘ s second Snowboard Cross in the Yellow Bib, snowboarders from Canada and France managed to race on the podium. Maelle Ricker came in second ahead of Marie Laissus. Mellie Francon from Switzerland finished fourth.

The final of the second Snowboard Cross of this season, which will take place in Chilean Andes as well, is scheduled to start on today ‘ s Sunday at 13.30 local time.
