Copper Hosts Thanksgiving Rail Jam

Copper Mountain, CO…November 24, 2003…Copper Mountain Resort is offering jibbers a better way to work off Thanksgiving dinner this year. On Friday, November 28, 2003 from 11a.m.- 2p.m., the resort is holding the first annual Leftover Yams and Jive Turkey Jam. A jam-formatted rail competition, the event will take place on three of the 13 rails in Copper’s jib park. The event is free and open to the public.

Copper’s Leftover Yams and Jive Turkey Jam will consist of a two-hour jam session with members of the Copper Freeride Team picking the top three competitors. Those three will then have two runs to strut their stuff before the crowd votes on the winner. First place winner will receive $250, second place will receive $150 and third place will receive $50.

Registration will take place at the Group Ticketing Desk in the Mountain Plaza building from 9:00 -10:00 a.m. and at the Jib Park from 10:00 -11:00 a.m. For competitors without a Copper Mountain season pass, discounted lift tickets are available at the Group Ticketing Desk for $26, giving Summit County jibbers no excuse not to show up.

Copper’s terrain park has received numerous kudos this season, including #5 in Transworld SNOWboarding’s reader’s poll in the 2004 Resort Guide as well as Best Terrain Park in the Summit Daily’s White Ribbon Awards. The main park, located on the Loverly Trail, is scheduled to open in mid-December. Until then, a small jib park will be located at the top of the American Eagle lift adjacent to Solitude Station featuring 13 jibs and a 30-foot tabletop jump.
