The 4th Snickers Nanshan Open Pre-Contest Show Up.

International riders from the far stretches of the globe are joining us for what will be the first intercontinental event in Chinese snowboard history. The park is being re-shaped and the weatherman calls for blue skies so come join us on the snow as Quiksilver man Brian Smith talks us through two-days of snowboarding madness. The final stop of the Mellow Park Tour takes place this Saturday, January 7 followed by The 4th Snickers Nanshan Open the Sunday. Both events are at the Nokia Nanshan Mellow Park, the sickest place to ride in China.

This time, the Snickers Nanshan Open will be taking a new format. It’s the pros and the locals jamming together and judging one another. Jam format gives competitors a better chance at sticking their best tricks and each division gets 45 minutes to show their best moves on the kickers, boxes and rails. Riders will rock out to Chinese punk band Reflector performing on stage in the park. The top pro will take home a sick new e-guitar from Gibson and the top local gets a big fat check for the sum of 5,000 Chinese RMB. Cavities are on the house as Snickers hooks us up with 5,000 chocolate bars and on top of that, Gibson is flowing every participant a free Air Guitar!

Qualifying round for the Snickers Nanshan Open is a day earlier at the final stop of the Mellow Park Tour. This is the last chance for the riders to show us what they can do and prove themselves worthy of a trip to the Method Boot Camp in the Austrian Alps. There, the lucky dude or dudette will shred with the best up and coming riders and learn how to rock like a rock star. Not to mention, top riders of Saturday’s event will take home sick product from Nokia, Quiksilver, Deeluxe and Dakine. All this action as well as demo shows from the pros (powered by Austrian Airlines) and DJ Wordy and MC Webber play that funky music all day long.

And the most importantly, who will be in “da house” this year?

Jonte EDVARDSON, SWEDEN / nitro, deeluxe
