SIA Presents Retailers’ Choice Award at the TransWorld Riders’ Poll Awards

McLEAN, Va. (February, 23 2000) – The top riders in the world will convene at the TransWorld Media Riders’ Poll Awards for a night of recognition and glamor. As a sponsor of the TransWorld Media Riders’ Poll, SnowSports Industries America (SIA) will recognize two pro riders with the Retailers’ Choice Award. Other awards presented at the ceremony include the Riders’ Poll and Readers Choice.

Presented by SIA president, David Ingemie, the Retailers’ Choice Award will go to those riders who had the most influence on retail sales. Retail shops were polled to determine whose name had the most affect on consumers when making buying decisions.

The Riders’ Poll Awards are based on 350 ballots sent to pro riders around the world. Each rider voted for their peers in nine categories to determine the most prominent riders in the industry. Readers of Snowboard Life and TransWorld SNOWboarding Magazine were surveyed to choose their favorite riders for the Readers’ Poll Award.

The gala awards event is scheduled for 8:30 p.m., March 5 at the Hard Rock Café in Las Vegas. Last year more than 2,000 people attended the ceremony, with more expected to attend this year. Held during the week of the SIA Vegas 2000 Show, the ceremony is by invitation and attracts show attendees, from riders and manufactures to retailers and buyers. The Riders’ Poll Awards gala follows the Sunday night SIA Mardi Gras Party at The Beach, where music, beverages and demonstrations will be available. The Mardi Gras party is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
