Shaun White Sponsored By Target Stores

Skateboarding, Snowboarding, Freestyle Motocross and BMX to be Part of Store’s Action Sports Line-Up

MINNEAPOLIS, May 31 — Target Stores announced its entry into action sports with an impressive array of action sport athlete sponsorships including: Shaun White, Nate Adams and the Hoffman Bikes Factory Team. Target will support these athletes during their appearances at competitions, exhibitions, community events and special store programs.

Shaun White — Skateboard/Snowboard

Fifteen-year-old Shaun White is a prodigy in both snowboarding and skateboarding. Shaun earned his reputation as one of the world’s top snowboarders when he won the 2002 Vans Triple Crown of Snowboarding. When he is not on snow, Shaun is one of the featured skateboarders on Tony Hawk’s Gigantic Skatepark Tour and Tony Hawk’s Boom Boom Huckjam Tour. Target will support Shaun’s endeavors and presence in both snowboarding and skateboarding.

“I’ve had a great time meeting everyone involved with the Target program and really look forward to representing them when I ride,” said White.

“Athletes like Shaun White do not come along very often,” said John Remington, vice president of events marketing and communications for Target Corporation (NYSE:TGT). “It’s very exciting to be a part of Shaun’s career in its early stages and we look forward to supporting him as his riding continues to contribute to the evolution and growth of snowboarding and skateboarding.”

Nate Adams — Freestyle Motocross

18-year-old freestyle motocross phenom Nate Adams was recently awarded the 2002 World Championship Freestyle Motocross Title. As part of the growing and popular arena of action sports, he continues to amaze crowds around the country with his leading repertoire of intricate motorcycle tricks, including Nate’s signature jump “The Tsunami.”

“I started riding when I was 8 years old. My dad got me into it,” said Adams. “It’s really cool to have grown into a sponsorship by a company like Target. I really like their style and the fun Target is having; it’s a good match for my approach to freestyle.”

“Nate is inspiring with his freestyle motocross skills,” said John Remington. “He is a young athlete to watch and encourage as he pushes the limits of his emerging sport.”

Hoffman Bikes Factory Team — BMX

Founded by 10-time World Vert Champion Mat Hoffman, Hoffman Bikes and its Factory Team are renowned leaders in the BMX industry.

“Target’s sponsorship of Hoffman Bikes makes sense,” said Mat Hoffman of Hoffman Bikes. “We share a similar philosophy, emphasizing individuality and not fitting to the same old mold. We are very excited about Target’s partnership with our team’s success.”

“Hoffman Bikes Factory Team embodies the diversity that represents the Target brand. Mat Hoffman is an icon of BMX and the current Hoffman Team roster reflects an amazing cross-section of today’s BMX-elite,” said John Remington.

The current team roster for Hoffman Bikes in the United States includes: Mat Hoffman, Kevin Robinson, Chad Kagy, Day Smith, Seth Kimbrough, Koji Kraft, Ryan Barrett, and Jimmy Walker.
