Last year Nitro began a grass roots effort to promote women’s snowboarding and Nitro by the formation of the women’s battalion. A select group of riders was assembled by Nitro’s Leah Hurst, the requirements being all around good snowboarding skills, a positive attitude, and the desire to promote the fun sport of snowboarding. The program proved successful, and the Nitro’s Women’s Battalion is again planning a coast to coast riding adventure. The women’s battalion includes; New Zealand native and Tahoe local Carla Simcox, Brooke Morton and Tesha Clark out of Vermont, and squad leader Leah Hurst, based out Nitro’s headquarters in New Hampshire. New additions to the team are Rachel Newton who calls Fresno California home, and another East Coast local Beth Rivers. Nitro team riders such as Marni Yamada and others will be joining the women at some stops as well.
The mission is the same as last year, which is to educate dealers and public alike on the growing demand and market of women’s snowboarders. The group is stoked to be promoting the new expanded line of women’s boards, boots, and bindings which they had a direct hand in designing with the help of Nitro owner Tommy Delago and Designer Lii Crum. The Battalion will be at the following on-snow demos: Stratton, Boyne, Sugar Bowl, and Solitude. The battalion plans on hitting other snow related events such as the US Open, Boarding for Breast Cancer, and SIA Vegas.
Nitro is also currently in the process of talking with and finding co-sponsors for this year’s tour. If anyone would like to join forces or need more information you can contact Nitro directly or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Look out for the Nitro women’s battalion at a mountain near you this winter!
Nitro Hires NorCal Rep
Nitro USA has added another sales rep to the sales team. Shaun Penrod, who was hired last summer, has decided to not to move to Northern California and to stay in Colorado to work with a rep agency. We continued the search and were able to fine a great new candidate. Nitro would like to announce Chris Cowell and the new Sales Rep for Northern California.
Chris is currently the Duffs sales rep in the Nor Cal territory and most recently was the Morrow Snowboard sales rep. He has extensive experience in the snowboard business, not only as a sales rep, but also the years he spent working his way up through the ranks.
Chris logged a lot of hours as a promotional/tech rep for Morrow were he learned the importance of marketing and promoting a brand. Prior to that he spent time working in retail snowboard shops in the Killington Vermont area. This experience helped him gain understanding of how to run and help buy for a retail store. He also spent time working with Killington Mountain designing snowboard parks and with Stimilon designing parks in Japan for the Nippon Open. Chris has also taught snowboarding at Killington during that period.
Beside working and riding, Chris was educated as a Chef at the New England Culinary Institute, so in between working riding and skating, Chris also likes to spend time in the kitchen.
With his well-rounded snowboard and sales background and a strong desire to succeed we are looking forward to having Chris as part of the Nitro sales force. Please help us welcome Chris to Nitro.
