Bend, Ore. – July 23, 2003 -Effective July 1, 2003, Mt. Bachelor has promoted Rick Brooks to the position of Director of Maintenance, Tom Lomax to the position of Mountain Manager, and Communications Manager Chris Johnston to a full time, year round position.
Brooks has been a familiar face at the Mountain for nearly 20 years. Starting in the Race Department in 1984, he has fulfilled a number of positions including Ski Instructor, Groomer, and Lift Mechanic. In 1993 his duties were expanded to include lift maintenance and construction. As Director of Maintenance Brooks is in charge of lift, vehicle and building maintenance, the Electrical Department and snow removal.
Lomax will now oversee lift operations, grooming, Ski Patrol and the Snowblast Tubing Park. The 2002-2003 Season was his tenth season with Mt. Bachelor as Lift Operations Manager. Prior to coming to Mt. Bachelor he worked in lift maintenance for Mission Ridge Ski Area in Washington state for 13 years.Johnston became the Communications Manager in August 2002. He has worked for Mt. Bachelor since January 2002. In addition to his duties as company spokesman and media contact, Johnston will now be more involved with trade shows and special events. ###
