Montoya Changes New Hotel Name

April 27, 2003, South Lake Tahoe, CA — Partners Mark Frank Montoya and Liko S. Smith have decided to change the name of the Lampliter Inn Hotel in South Lake Tahoe to “the BLOCK.” Changing the name and signage is expected to take place over a four-week period. A grand opening is scheduled for Summer 03

The name change was part of a retreat weekend in South Lake Tahoe where various services and ideas were discussed by interested and qualified individuals invited by Smith and Montoya. Among the individuals were Travis Wood of Sims Snowboards, Todd Hahn of Action Sports Management and Allen Francis of Cristelen web design Dean “Blotto” Harris II of Burton was also invited but could not attend. “We wanted to be sure we were doing the right thing for our customers” says Marc Frank Montoya. The meetings were held at the Marriott Grand Residence at Heavenly in South Lake Tahoe from April 10-12, 2003 .

Liko S. Smith, Managing Member of the BLOCK plans to implement all of the ideas brought up at the meeting. “Great ideas were discussed such as wireless internet, cd players in rooms, cordless phones and some great services…. wireless has already been installed and the response has been tremendous. “Everything from interior design, to employee involvement, to the name, will be a direct reflection of the needs we feel would be perfect for traveling and active people and a fit to Marc’s personality ” says Mr. Smith. “However, when it comes to the name, it was really Travis Wood that came up with it” he says. ” We wanted a name that encompasses what we’re all about, it speaks to the communal feel of the property and the no shi shi style of what we’re trying to create” says Wood.

“It’s going to be a challenge to get this all done by June but that’s the goal and why I’m here” says Smith who is also president/owner of Eagle Eye Management, a LV based hotel management company. “Marc has a lot of traveling to do this year and his focus as always is on being the best in his profession…. we’ll do the rest” he says.

The Inn is a 2-story boutique property with upper level sitting decks and elevated spa facing the runs at Heavenly. Known for its friendly service, quality rooms and amenities, the property consists of 28 rooms and suites. Each room consists of vastly different layout, design and décor. The Hotel is located at 4143 Cedar St. directly across from Harveys and Harrahs Lake Tahoe Casinos at Stateline, NV. The hotel will be directly adjacent to the incoming 91,000 squ.
