Marie-France Roy is known for being one of the most stylish and versatile snowboarders in the field and has the accolades to prove it. From movie parts in Absinthe Films, Rome movies and media coverage, along with earning TransWorld SNOWboarding Women’s Rider of the Year in 2015, three-peating Women’s Reader’s Choice, and winning Women’s Video Part of the Year, she’s one of the most decorated women’s riders of our time. She produced the environmentally-driven film The Little Things in 2014, for which she received TransWorld‘s Climate Activist Award. Outside of snowboarding, Marie is known for her humble and giving personality, her love and connection with nature, as well as her awareness for the world around her.

MFR on filming and snowboarding:
I grew up snowboarding in Quebec from when I was 11 years old following my older brothers around our home Resort Le Massif every weekend. Snowboarding instantly became my passion and what made me the happiest growing up. I looked up to Tara Dakides and Barrett Christy as mentors, even though I never, ever thought I could make [snowboarding] my career. I did it because of my love for it, and it just lead me to the next contest or next road trip and eventually to Whistler, B.C. and my first sponsors. I have been enjoying the ride ever since and feel very grateful for all the places it has brought me, all the incredible people that I have become friends with along the way, and all the adrenaline moments that keep us feeling like kids forever. Just as importantly, it has kept me connected to the outdoors and nature that makes us all feel alive.

“On and off the snow, Marie puts only the best intentions and energy into what she does. She leads by example, following her passion and continuing to push herself in so many aspects of life. It's always a treat to hang out and ride with her because it's a reminder to live life to its potential.” – Hana Beaman
