This line is one we all can dream of riding. Too bad we'll never be able to send it with the sheer power, and finesse that Hana has. Photo: Chad Chomlack

Hana Beaman grew up in Big Bear Lake, CA after moving there from Santa Barbara, CA when she was just a young tot. After what became a permanent ski vacation, she and her family moved into a cabin and Hana began snowboarding at age six. When she wasn’t in the confines of the classroom, you could find her on the mountain, riding, dorking around with friends and giving herself a lifetime worth of snow-burns. From there she honed in her skills and positive can-do attitude and has become one of the leading lady snowboarders of all-time. She’s earned numerous accolades throughout her career, including TransWorld SNOWboarding Rider of the Year, and Snowboarder Magazine‘s Riders of the Year. She consistently sends it deeper than most, and does so with the biggest smile.

Hana on her biggest supporters:

Snowboarding had become my life before I even graduated high school, but I gave college a chance up in Tahoe for a year before I got my break at Snowboarder Mag’s Superpark at Mammoth Mountain that spring. Since then, I have been unbelievably fortunate and been able to travel the world and make unforgettable memories with some amazing people. I couldn’t have asked for a better scenario. My mom and dad have always been my biggest supporters and they are the ones who got me started snowboarding, I thank them… A LOT!

“I've known Hana for a few years now, but only this year have I spent a lot of time with her. She's always been someone I've looked up to- her powerful riding style and confidence in the backcountry are such a force to be reckoned with. Adding to her riding ability is her personality. She jokes about everything. No matter what the conditions are, she's happy and makes the most of every experience, all whilst carrying along little trinkets and random weird things that no one would think about, but all of a sudden they become essential to the trip, like feathered face masks or blow darts. Duh, of course you need embroidered band-aid patches to hand out when someone gets a boo boo.” – Helen Schettini

Full Moon is a two year film project that seeks to feature the past, present and future of women’s snowboarding. Get to know the crew.
