Why aren't there more women's events? This is the biggest takeaway from G.W.R. by Nikita Clothing at Carinthia Parks on March 31st.  Girls traveled from Pennsylvania, New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts and Vermont to be at this single-day event. With so much interest and enthusiasm for something like this, it should be a no-brainer to get more of these progression and jam session days going. If you're a girl and you live somewhere they don't have an event like this, start organizing it! Get out there and bring people together!

With more than 70 girls gathered together at Carinthia's Lower Nitro Park on the morning of March 31st, the excitement was high and the energy was infectious. Throw-back jams started playing over the speakers provided by Carinthia and the G.W.R. by Nikita Clothing at Carinthia Parks was on. If you're not familiar with G.W.R. events by Nikita yet- the format runs like this; the day starts off with a morning jam session coached by Nikita teamriders, and then after a short break for lunch everyone gathers again at the top of the park to throw down tricks they've just learned (or have already mastered) for a massive giveaway of prizes and goods. Prizes are handed out for riders when they land sick tricks, their personal best tricks, or even when someone just slams super hard; they earn themselves a giveaway and a huge round of applause for going for it.

Girls ranged in age from just 7 years old to 50+ and were everything from local rippers who came to ride after school or on weekends, to owners, employees and friends of core snowboard shops (shout-out to Darkside Snowboards and Empire Sports Inc!) to professional graphic designers, traveling tattoo artists and weekend warrior bus drivers. The differences in backgrounds was nothing between each of these as they related to each other through their love of just having fun on snow.

Seven-year-old min-shred from Darkside Snowboards in Vermont kicked the day off by warming up the flat box with a super smooth 5050 and was followed up by older girls working on boardslides, 270s-out, ski-slides lay-backs and more all coached by Nikita team riders Summer Fenton, Brooke Potter and Ari Morrone . Not too long after, G.W.R. attendees Christina Thai and Sara Zahedi moved over to the donkey down-rail and laid down some stoke-inducing frontboards. Below the donkey down rail was a rainbow rail that got its session going on next, quickly followed up by some air-time on the combination hip-jump towards the bottom of the park. Out of nowhere, Carinthia local Amelia Williams started a tame-dog session off of the kicker, while Tatiana sessioned front 180 tails with Ari Morrone.

Lunch came and went, and after what seemed like no time at all, the afternoon jam began in the park. The day was warm, the snow soft and after the great vibes from the morning event, girls were ready to send it. Jenna Kuklinski took over the mic while Summer Fenton, Brooke Potter and Ari Morrone kept keen eyes on all the girls and pass out prizes to riders that impressed them. Darkside employee and shop rider Kyla Henry raised the energy level up for the afternoon, with all of the girls following suit once the session was on. Action soon progressed downhill as the rainbow rail started getting some serious attention. Sara, Tatiana, Christina, and Amelia all made their mark on the feature with a serious assortment of boardslides, frontboards, rail grabs, airs and more across the metal feature.

The nation of Nikita. Huge thanks to everyone that came out! PHOTO: Ashley Rosemeyer

All-in-all, the third stop of G.W.R. by Nikita Clothing was, what some might say, a spectacular experience. Where else on earth can you see you this many girls getting together, pushing themselves to progress and having the time of their lives? We hope that soon to see things like this everywhere, because this event is something special that every girl should be able to access several times a season, not just once.

Big thanks to Carinthia Parks staff and crew for tirelessly grooming the park throughout the entire day, and for setting up the perfect park for the G.W.R. event. Shout out to Darkside Snowboard Shop Teeta, Kyla, Empire Sports Inc. and everyone else who came to represent for the event.

Keep those eyes peeled for more G.W.R. by Nikita Clothing events popping up around the globe; info comes out on instagra @nikitaclothing and on the blog at www.nikitaclothing.com. This is just the beginning. #forgirlswhoride
