Flow Expands Product Development Department

San Francisco, California — 6/9/04 – Roger Neiley has been named Product Line Manager for Flow International, the San Francisco based producer of snowboard boots, bindings, and boards. In this newly created position, Roger will be responsible for design, development, and testing programs for all Flow products. The new position coincides with the establishment of a centralized product development office to be based out of the San Francisco corporate headquarters. The announcement was made by Anthony Scaturro, International Division Manager for Flow International.

This move represents a major expansion of the company’s product development program. “Roger has exactly the combination of product expertise and business savvy we were looking for. We know we’ve got to be ahead of the curve in bringing the right mix of products for the international market in order to maximize growth, commented Scaturro. “It’s key to have experienced and capable product people, but they also need to know the business side of the equation. Roger fills that bill perfectly.

Neiley returns to the snow industry after running his own sports footwear development business for the past few years, during which time he developed several patented footwear designs. Prior, he served as Director of R&D at Quiksilver, Inc. as they ramped up their WinterSports division and entered the hardgoods business. He gained a unique understanding of product development during the 80’s and 90’s through a long product management stint with Raichle snowboard and ski boots as well as a variety of other snow hardgoods products.

“I’m really stoked to hook up with a talented, forward-thinking group like the Flow team. The bindings have been a real success story over the past decade and I see huge potential for the boot and board programs. With financial backing from our Neil Pryde Ltd. Group owners, well-developed manufacturing partners, and the total commitment of the management team here, there’s an unusual capacity to become a top level, multi-line supplier to our retail partners.

Joining Roger, in the position of Board Product Line Manager, is industry vet, Eric Luthard. Eric is a snowboarder of 18 years, currently residing in Lake Tahoe, where he has his own small snowboard factory. In the past Eric has worked with Ride Snowboards, also in the Research and Development department, and with Illuminati Snowboards where he was a Partner, as well as a Product Line Manager. During his time with Illuminati, they received a Good Wood Award from Transworld.

Flow has been producing innovative snowboard products since 1995. As the originator of the reclining high-back binding, Flow introduced to the world a new wave of binding technology. Viewed as having a revolutionary technology, competitors have tried to imitate the reclining high-back, although none have seen the same success. Over the past nine years, Flow has become known for ease of use, comfort, and advanced control gained when using their bindings. Although Flow’s products will work with other brands, they are designed to be used together. Flow boots, boards, and bindings are known as the FlowSystem.
