We know we are late to the story and you have probably already read about it, but we had to follow up and celebrate Ester for a second time. Ester Ledecka continued her 2018 Winter Olympic triumph, after sticking it to Lindsey Vonn and the skiing world with a gold medal in Super-G, with a gold in her self-proclaimed main discipline of snowboarding parallel giant slalom. Becoming the first woman to claim gold at the Winter Olympics in two different sports, and the only athlete to ever do it in skiing and snowboarding.
Winning two disciplines within snowboarding is hard enough, but to win in two separate sports is insane. Leaving a historic path in her wake, Ledecka will leave PyeongChang with two golds, all decided within a second. Close races on both accounts, Ledecka has become an Olympic legend literally in the split of a second. Beating out Germany’s Selina Joerg in the final round, the 22-year-old Czech snowboarder rode into the history books, securing the gold and her legacy.
