DMR hosts SheRide Snowboard Camp

Durango, CO – This one’s for the ladies only! Durango Mountain Resort will host the second annual SheRide Snowboard Camp, February 27- 29. SheRide is the ideal atmosphere for women learning to snowboard or looking to perfect their skills. Taught by professional female instructors from DMR’s Mountain Adventure snowboard school, the 3-day camp offers a supportive, fun and confidence building environment.

“I imagined escaping to the Rockies and learning to ride from female pros,” said snowboard instructor and camp organizer Julie Visnich. “The camp concept came from that – a sisterhood of riders helping each other tackle the mountain.”

The camp, sponsored by Nikita Clothing, Velvet, Burton, Inferno Snowboard Shop, Bubba’s Boards and 99.7 The Point, is geared towards beginner to advanced intermediate riders. The weekend includes pre-ride stretching and yoga, morning and afternoon sessions, stance and balance evaluation, equipment diagnostics, video analysis and specific skill development for mountain and park. More than just a training session, the camp is aimed at building confidence and mountain skills in a unique and enjoyable environment.

“It’s all about mutual support and learning to ride together,” said Visnich. “You’ll never hear the words ‘just go’ at SheRide. Our coaches will share the ways they learned to do it and show the campers how to handle the mountain with confidence.”

The camp costs $360, including 3 days lift tickets and coaching, prizes and gear from sponsors and a celebration dinner ($285 for Season Pass holders). Bubbas Boards and Inferno Snowboards are providing rentals for just $15 per day. The lodging option includes 4 nights slopeside lodging at the Purgatory Village Hotel, breakfasts and airport transfer to and from DMR for just $638. Evening rendezvous points will be arranged for group dinners and shopping. Lodging package is based on double occupancy, price does not include airfare, rentals or hotel taxes.

“It’s sisterhood at the speed of life,” finished Visnich. “It’s about empowering riders to take it to the next level.”
