COPPER MOUNTAIN, CO…December 13, 2001…Riders from across the state will converge on Copper Mountain Resort Saturday, December 15 and Sunday, December 16 for the 15th Annual Copper Mountain Snowboard Series Presented by Sprite® and Qdoba®. The longest running amateur snowboard series in North America, fourteen separate events will be held throughout the course of this season including Slalom, Giant Slalom, Halfpipe, Slopestyle and Snowboardcross competition. This weekend will mark the first event of the season and will feature Giant Slalom and Slalom competition.
The Following is a list of the events scheduled this season:Dec. 15 – Giant Slalom Feb. 3 – Snowboard Cross
Dec. 16 – Slalom Feb. 9 – Snowboard Cross
Jan. 12 – Halfpipe Feb. 10 – Snowboard Cross
Jan. 13 – Slopestyle Feb. 23 – Halfpipe
Jan. 19 – Giant Slalom Feb. 24 – Slopestyle
Jan. 20 – Slalom Mar. 2 -Halfpipe
Feb. 2 – Snowboard Cross Mar. 3 – Slopestyle
Participants can register on the day of the event at Jack’s Slopeside Grill in Copper One Lodge from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. Entry fees are $15 for all events except the Snowboard Cross which is $20, and special racers’ lift tickets are available. A one-time USASA membership fee of $20 is required. All events begin at 10 a.m. and an awards party and raffle will take place immediately following each competition in the Burning Stones Plaza in the New Village.
