New York Media Tour Meets With Warm Welcome
Portland, Oregon ¿ Shunning the traditional press kit mailing, the Chorus snowboard team stormed New York City, August 20-22, to meet with magazine editors and share their vision for the new company in a more unique and intimate way. Leslee Olson, Roberta Roger, Janna Meyen and Cara Beth Burnside caught the attention of the press during their stay and made it known that girls will soon get the recognition they deserve in snowboarding.
The tour included stops to YM, Seventeen, Sports Illustrated for Women, Jane, Shape, FHM, Mademoiselle, Paper, Sportswear International and Elle to name a few. At each meeting team members spoke about why they launched Chorus and how they plan to support, encourage and push each other while inspiring young female riders to be their best, athletically and in their everyday lives.
Not only was the media inspired by the story, they were also thrilled to know that Chorus will manufacture and design quality, progressive snowboards for women ¿ something they thought was long overdue. Following each meeting, team manager and photographer Mark Welsh took pictures of the athletes with the magazine staff for their walls.
During their five-day stay in New York, the team toured sights of the City, shopped Soho and visited a few bars and clubs along the way. Mark Welsh kept camera in-hand and captured the girls in many rare and comical moments.
Chorus snowboards are built with women in mind, offering customized flex and shape with a strong focus on freestyle performance. Although each rider worked with an artist to design a graphic to suit her personality, Chorus boards are not signature models. The team worked closely together to test, ride and collaborate on design for the entire line. Chorus will offer snowboards in five lengths from 142cm-157cm and the boards will retail for approximately $400.00. The product will be sold at select specialty snowboarding stores worldwide beginning in August 2001.
