Burton Progression Park at Northstar-at-Tahoe

Truckee, CA--In an effort to make it easier than ever for skiers and riders to learn how to ride freestyle terrain, Northstar-at-Tahoe"¢ Resort opened its Burton Progression Park on the Sidewinder trail, located off of the Vista Express chairlift. With boxes, rails and jumps just inches from the ground, riders can learn how to ride freestyle terrain in a non-intimidating and fun environment.

Northstar"¢ Resort’s Burton Progression Park offers a 15′ “ride on, ride off flat box, a 15′ “ride on flat box, a 15′ “ride on flat bar rail, a roller, jump, and a tabletop jump. Each terrain park feature in the Burton Progression Park is laid out with a “Stop and Drop Zone that includes tip signs specific to the feature that lies ahead. The tip signs also promote Smart Style safety, something important for all park riders to know and practice. The combination of the small terrain park features, the park layout and signage, creates the perfect setting for all types of riders to develop park riding skills.

“The Progression Park makes it easy to get started riding jumps, boxes and rails without being intimidated by some of the larger features in some of our other parks, said Northstar Resort’s terrain park manager, Chris Castaneda. “The idea is to give people the opportunity to learn on smaller features, and then work their way up to larger jumps and other features as they start to feel more comfortable.

The Burton Progression Park is just one aspect of the Burton Learn To Ride system, which was developed in 1998 by Burton and snowboard instructors worldwide to make learning to ride easy and fun. The goal of Burton Learn To Ride is to provide the best initial snowboarding experience to beginners so they return to the mountain to snowboard again and again. By using a proven instruction method and Burton equipment created specifically for beginners, Learn to Ride is a specialized program for those seeking to progress to the next level.
