Burton Offers First Helmet Indemnity Program

Burlington, VT — As a part of an expanded and enhanced rental program, Burton is offering rental shops the benefit of its new Rental Helmet Indemnity Program, which protects shops against certain types of lawsuits. This new program will help secure rental shops from risks associated with helmet rentals. The first of its kind from a helmet manufacturer, the new program demonstrates how serious Burton is about safety on the hills.

Burton Snowboards has always been committed to safety, particularly in its R.E.D. Impact Protection division. As more and more people take up snowboarding and rent equipment, it’s essential that new riders have the best safety equipment readily available to enhance their first experience on a snowboard. The new R.E.D. Rental Helmet Indemnity Program is an added incentive for rental shops to provide high-quality, Burton R.E.D. helmets that meet applicable ASTM Standards.

To benefit from this new program, shops need to follow a few simple steps. Burton will then cover and defend a lawsuit and pay associated fines and/or judgments. The program’s general guidelines ensure equipment safety for renters and are highly recommended even if a shop is not involved with the indemnity program. For a list of the specific guidelines, dealers can contact their local Burton and R.E.D. reps.

The new R.E.D. Rental Helmet Indemnity Program is just a part of many new valuable features in Burton’s 2004 rental offerings. Burton also enhanced its Learn To Ride"¢ and rental equipment to make things easier for both riders and rental shops. Check out what’s new:

Rental helmets available in 2004: Based on the tried and true designs of the R.E.D. Skycap and Buzzcap. All helmets have zip-clip closure to eliminate strap-sizing issues and color-coded chinstraps for easy size selection.

Round top construction on LTR and rental Cruzer snowboards: The strongest construction to date, it stands up to use and abuse in the rental environment.

Bar code area on board top sheet: This smooth area allows for easy and long-lasting application of shops’ barcodes on board topsheets.

Foundation strap binding: Features a tool-free ankle strap allowing shops and resorts to easily adjust the ankle strap for different boot sizes.

Cruzer board retail version: New taper technology in the tail to make turning even easier, the best graphics to date and an expanded size line to fill any potential gaps in rental shops.

Color-coded size windows: All boots, bindings and helmet chinstraps have corresponding color-coded labels in visible spots to make size selection quick and easy for rental shops — small=blue, medium=red and large=yellow.

Updated boot barcode/size tail: Includes mondo point and U.S. sizing.

Junkyard and Source Snowdecks available on rental and resort programs: These are the most popular Snowdecks out there — having them on hand to rent will only help retail programs.

Burton Snowboards is committed to giving all riders — from renters to pros — the best equipment possible. The new R.E.D. Rental Helmet Indemnity Program is a way for shops to provide renters with high quality helmets with less risk. For more information on Burton’s 2004 rental programs and the R.E.D.
