Burton Hire Binding Category Manager

Burton Snowboards announced today that Brent Merriam has been hired as Binding Category Manager. In this position, Merriam will oversee the various aspects of binding production and will interface directly with Burton team riders, product managers and engineers to manage the conception, development and manufacturing of Burton’s binding product line.

Merriam was most recently Vice President of Technology for Questech Corporation in Middlebury, VT, a position he held since 1996. In this position Brent managed the research and development, engineering and testing functions as well as intellectual property and regulatory compliance issues with metal composite tiles and trim.

Merriam began his professional career at Questech Corporation in 1990 as Vice President of Operations where he played a vital role in launching the company. Merriam was responsible for all manufacturing, engineering, maintenance, human resources, transportation, regulatory compliance and intellectual property functions.

Before his time at Questech Corporation, Merriam was plant manager for Green Mountain Marble Co. Inc, in Windsor, VT. Prior to that, he worked as an engineering consultant, writing technical reports for the Air Force, Army and Federal Aviation Administration.

Brent earned a Bachelor’s of Engineering degree in 1986 from Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth College in Hanover, NH.

This is Brent’s third season riding. He picked up snowboarding three years ago and was hooked instantly. He tries to make it to the mountain as often as possible. Brent looks forward to winter each year and along with snowboarding, he enjoys snowshoeing, mountain biking and hiking.
