Black Dot Signs Brandon Johnson, Launches Web Site

SEATTLE (August 7, 2002) – Black Dot®, a leader in technical boardwear “without the sticker shock,” has added Brandon Johnson to the brand’s team rider roster for the 2002/2003 season, announced Vice President of Sales Roger Bird.

The 21-year-old Johnson, formerly of San Bernardino, California, has been riding for four years and competed for the first time during the 2001/2002 season, entering two Triple Crown events. He has been featured on Blue Torch television and has already gained exposure through a number of film appearances, something he plans to continue during the upcoming season.

During the 2002/2003 season, Johnson will compete in all Triple Crown events, and will travel to Canada for the Wildcat Challenge. He currently rides for Endeavor snowboards, Electric eyewear, Grenade gloves and Transition board shops.

“We are pleased to have such an enthusiastic new rider like Brandon join the team. He epitomizes the type of emerging riders we are targeting as we build the Black Dot brand,” said Bird. “Since the beginning, our goal has been to have a great mix of established competitors and newcomers for a well-rounded team that also offers a great way to increase our brand visibility and credibility.”

Bird added that the 2002/2003 team will be finalized over the coming months, and that all team riders will be outfitted in Black Dot’s Fall ’02 “Pro Series” collection of technical performance snowboarding apparel. The team also plays an integral role in the ongoing product wear test and development process.

In addition to its dedicated team rider program, Black Dot is enhancing its brand exposure through its support of the 2002/2003 Chevy Truck U.S. Snowboard Grand Prix. For the third season, Black Dot will participate in the Industry Demo Village at each tour event.

Beginning October 2002, Black Dot product information, team rider highlights and other news will available online when goes live. A number of product contests and challenges will kick-off the launch of the interactive site. It will also feature a weekly update by Greg Manning, Team Black Dot manager and former New England Cup Halfpipe champion, Killington Big Air champion and Boardercross finalist. On his “G-Man” page, Manning will deliver timely and live news during key boarding events and provide up-to-the-minute reports on Black Dot team riders.
