Billabong Hires Peterson As Communications Director

Irvine, CA – September 17, 2001 – Billabong USA announces Kim Peterson as the new group communications director where she will join the marketing team at Billabong USA headquarters in Irvine, CA.

In her new role, Peterson will represent the company and act as the first in-house public/media relations’ liaison where she will build strategic communications plans to increase brand image and recognition, athlete publicity and product placement.

Peterson comes to this position most recently from Four Star Distribution where she directed all media/public relations’ efforts for Four Star Distribution’s snowboard and skateboard divisions to include the following six brands: snow brands – Special Blend outerwear, Forum snowboards, Foursquare Expedition Performance Systems, Jeenyus snowboards; skate brands – C1RCA footwear and C1 Denim, and C1RCA Presents, which was created in 2000 to join forces with C1RCA footwear and the urban hip-hop, drum and bass and DJ world.

Prior to that she represented Red Bull Energy Drink, Santa Monica, CA, where she acted as media relations manager for Red Bull’s national and regional events, and handled sports communications for Red Bull athletes. She also acted as the director of sales and marketing for Crossrocket and Monsterskate, divisions of Swell, Inc., San Juan Capistrano, CA, and as the director of communications/public relations and spokesperson for Snowbird Ski & Summer Resort and The Canyons Resort, both in Utah.

Peterson will also act as communications director for other company owned brands to include Element and Von Zipper.

In 1992 Element skateboards and apparel was created and continues to take skateboarding to the next level by providing hardgoods technology that helps skateboarders push their limits.
