Vancouver, B.C. (May 15, 2003) ~ ARC’TERYX Equipment Inc., designers and manufacturers of technical outerwear, backpacks, and climbing harnesses, announces the newest addition to its Descent Athlete Team for 2003 — Canadian, Jonaven Moore. Moore is well renowned for his unique riding style, which fuses freestyle with big mountain terrain.

A native of Banff, Alberta, Moore was exposed to the backcountry at an early age by mountaineering parents. Balancing his time in big mountain terrain with competitive freestyle interests Moore got his jump on a career in professional snowboarding at the early age of 10. One can witness his achievements by reading the extensive interview in Transworld Snowboaring, or viewing Moore’s powerful segments in all three original ‘Treetop films’ movies, as well as Standard’s ‘TB10’ and Absinthe’s ‘Vivid’.

Moore currently resides in Squamish, BC, where he balances his time between traveling to snowboard destinations in Europe and Alaska and riding his home mountains of Whistler and Blackcomb. During the summer, Moore can most likely be found cross training on a skateboard, surfing, whitewater kayaking, or rock-climbing – his love for mountain and water sports fuels his endless search for new adventure.

“Jonaven’s superb riding talent, combined with his contagiously positive attitude and drive make him an excellent ambassador for ARC’TERYX,” said John Irvine, Athlete Manager for Arc’teryx.

Moore joins Brian Savard, Morgan Lafonte, Chris Ankeny, Annie Fast, Tom Wayes, Wendy Keller, and Billy Buckbauer to promote the company’s benchmark products and precedent setting influences in the snow sports market.

“ARC’TERYX has brought together this outstanding team of big mountain athletes because they represent the core roots of our brand and the integrity of the sport. Our goal from the beginning has always been to develop the best clothing and equipment program for freeriding in a big mountain environment,” added Irvine.

Born in Vancouver, B.C. 14 years ago, ARC’TERYX Equipment Inc. was founded with the idea of designing a better climbing harness. The company has gained international recognition as the undisputed leader of mountaineering and climbing equipment for the design, innovation and construction of its technical outerwear, backpacks and harnesses.
