Winter Golf Open at Loon


Lincoln, NH, Jan. 10, 2000: Up in the White Mountains a little snow, coldtemperatures, or the fact that it’s the middle of winter don’t get in theway of a good round of golf. On Saturday, February 12, Loon Mountain willhost the first annual CASA Winter Snow Golf Open. Charlie Sherman fromWMUR TV will serve as honorary host.

Foursomes will play nine holes of winter snow golf on a special coursedesigned by Jacque Frost. Participants must ski, snowboard, or snowshoefrom hole to hole (no golf carts allowed). Using official “White MountainRules” players will vie for the best score as they make their way down theBlue Ox trail. The usual (and not so usual) hazards will make for achallenging and fun round with prizes for closest to the pin, longestdrive, worst score, best golf outfit and more.

Registration for the event is $300 per foursome or $75 per person andincludes lift ticket, goody bag and pre-event “19th Hole Party”. At the19th Party, Friday evening, February 11, participants will be able to bidfor spots on WMUR’s Charlie Sherman’s team.

“We think we can appeal to a wide audience, raise more money for CASA, andreally have a lot of fun with this snow golf tournament,” said DaveAnderson, director of marketing at Loon Mountain.

At the end of the day an awards and apres-ski party will be held inGovernor’s Lodge. Raffle tickets will be sold throughout the day andprizes include golf vacation for two at Big Bear Mountain in California anda Threedom Season Pass for 2000-2001 season.

CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) is a private, non-profitorganizationdedicated to helping abused and neglected children find their way throughthe child welfare and juvenile court systems to safe, loving and permanenthomes. CASA of New Hampshire has over 300 citizen volunteers that haveadvocated for nearly 2000 children across the state of New Hampshire.
