White & Bright Win Volvo C30 T5s at the 2007 US Open

STRATTON, Vt. (March 18, 2007) — Shaun White and Torah Bright won the Volvo Most Valuable Rider Award, each earning a new Volvo C30 T5 for their outstanding results at the 2007 US Open Snowboarding Championships, the final event in the Burton Global Open Series, Presented by Motorola. Event highlights will be aired on NBC today, March 18 from 1:00-2:30 p.m. ET.

Shaun’s third place finish in slopestyle and first place finish in halfpipe scored him the Volvo. And Torah’s second place finish in slopestyle, third place finish and Best Trick award in halfpipe clinched the Volvo keys for her.

Shaun and Torah had impressive pay days at this year’s US Open. Both riders earned $100,000 each when they won the first ever Burton Global Open Series (BGOS) championship title. In addition to the Volvo and the $100,000 BGOS title, Torah will be taking home $10,000 from slopestyle, $5,000 for her halfpipe third place finish and an additional $5,000 and a Nintendo Wii system for scoring the Best Trick presented by Nintendo Wii in the halfpipe finals. Shaun also made a pretty penny this weekend, earning $5,000 in slopestyle, $20,000 in halfpipe plus the $100,000 BGOS title, the Volvo and Motorola cell phones. Not bad for a couple days of work.
