Sunday, December 5 – Halfpipe Finals 12:30-2pm

“We’re excited to bring the Vans Triple Crown of Snowboarding back to Breckenridge for the second consecutive year,” says Steve Van Doren, Vans’ vice president of promotions. “The mountain, staff, and town of Breckenridge were such amazing hosts for the event last year that it was only fitting we return this year.”

Sponsors of the 1999/00 Vans Triple Crown of Snowboarding include Mountain Dew, G-Shock, PlayStation, Rolling Stone Magazine, and Transworld Snowboarding Magazine.

“The Vans Triple Crown allows us to showcase our ability to consistently be among the first resorts anywhere to open a halfpipe made to Olympic specifications every year,” says Breckenridge Special Events Manager Chris Searles. “This year’s Vans event also gives us the opportunity to show people what our new Super Dragon 2000 halfpipe grooming machine can do.” Searles said Breckenridge was the first resort in the country to purchase a Super Dragon, a grooming instrument capable of cutting deeper and wider halfpipes than ever before. Searles notes, “The events at Breckenridge are a great way to remind people of our long-standing relationship with the sport going back to the mid 1980’s when we were at the vanguard of snowboarding with our World Championships and Snowboarding World Cups.”

Following the Mountain Dew Classic in Breckenridge, the second stop of the Vans Triple Crown of Snowboarding moves to Mount Seymour, British Columbia, Canada on January 14-16 for the Vans Championships and culminates at the Ford North American Championships held at Sierra at Tahoe, California February 25-27.

Each stop of the Vans Triple Crown Series will receive a dedicated one-hour show, airing at least three times on the ESPN networks in over 180 countries to over 200 million households worldwide. In addition, a half-hour compilation show featuring the ‘Best of the Triple Crown of Snowboarding’ will include series highlights, airing in the same distribution channels.
