USASA Nationals On Fox April 30

TRUCKEE, Calif. (April 28, 2004)—On April 30th, FOX Sports Net will air highlights of the competitions and festivities from the 2004 USASA National Championship, the world’s largest snowboard event. More than 1,200 competitors traveled to Angel Fire Resort in New Mexico to win a chance to come home with one of 840 medals and enjoy the week of festivities. The 14th Annual USASA National Championship attracted snowboarders and freestyle skiers of all ages and abilities from coast to coast. The USASA National Championship is comprised of five primary events; Alpine GS, Alpine Slalom, Freestyle Halfpipe, Freestyle Slopestyle and SnowBoardercross. The FOX Sports Net show will feature competitor interviews, a behind the scenes peek at what it takes to organize an event of this magnitude and a close-up of the competition, ability of the riders and excitement of the festivities surrounding the action packed week.

“This years competition was better than ever, said Tom Collins, executive director, USASA. “The FOX Sports program will features many of the event highlights and provide insight as to what it takes for competitors to begin as a novice with USASA and build their skill level to compete at local, regional, national and international events. We are proud to help riders of all ages and abilities learn about the fundamentals of snowboarding and offer them the opportunity to compete with best in class riders.

Besides the competition highlights, the USASA National Championship participants test their skills at pond skimming in ice-cold water and ride the rails of the Smith Limo. The week of activities included live DJ’s, award ceremonies and fun for friends and family.
