THQ/MTV Sports Launch Game

CALABASAS HILLS, Calif.–Oct. 28, 1999–THQ Inc. (NASDAQ:THQI) announced “MTV Sports(TM): Snowboarding(TM)” for PlayStation shipped today.

Licensed and developed by Radical Entertainment Ltd., this unique snowboarding thrill-ride for PlayStation combines the tricks, crashes and individuality that define the action sports category with a killer soundtrack including music performed by Blink 182, Ministry, Fear Factory and many more of today’s hottest bands. “MTV Sports: Snowboarding” is available at major retail outlets nationwide at a suggested retail price of $39.99.

“In teaming with MTV on our line of `MTV Sports’ products, THQ’s goal is to combine great gameplay with today’s hottest bands to create a lifestyle product delivering the best of both worlds,” said Peter Dille, THQ’s vice president, marketing. “Music is such an integral part of the snowboarding culture that it’s a natural fit for `MTV Sports: Snowboarding’. So much so, that our TV ad focuses on the idea that `you just can’t snowboard without good music.'”

“MTV was the first on the scene with action sports programming,” said Tony Calandra, director of interactive products, MTV. “We are continuing our commitment to the action sports lifestyle through our action sports game line of products with THQ. The MTV audience sets the trends in apparel, equipment and, of course, the music that make our first release, `MTV Sports: Snowboarding’ a totally immersive snowboarding experience.”

The “MTV Sports: Snowboarding” soundtrack is comprised of hits performed by today’s hottest bands including Blink 182, Ministry, Fear Factory, Lagwagon, JOI, Face to Face, H20, VooDoo Glow Skulls, Ten Foot Pole and Pulley. Additionally, the game features hundreds of cool trick combos, challenging parks and a unique “Create-A-Park” function allowing players to create their own runs. “MTV Sports: Snowboarding” also boasts unique riders and the hottest licenses in equipment and apparel.

“MTV Sports: Snowboarding” takes enthusiasts to five distinct mountain resorts around the world. Players can choose from one of six unique lifestyle riders and compete in five different events including `Slopestyle,’ `Halfpipe,’ `Freeride,’ `Mountain X’ and `Big-air’ contests.
