Norwalk, CT, February 17, 2005 The Collection, comprised of four visionary snowboarders Ross Powers, Kelly Clark, Andy Finch and Gretchen Bleiler, announced Snickers as the team’s presenting sponsor for the à¢'¬Ë"04/05 and 05/06 seasons. The founding four riders also just announced the addition of 14-year-old phenom Luke Mitrani to The Collection’s roster

Snickers partnership with The Collection includes a variety of activities from branding to engaging fans of the sport. Snickers will conduct sampling, client hospitality, consumer and charitable initiatives, and will have its logo on the team motor coach and The Collection’s boards. In addition, Snickers will help support a development initiative that enables snowboarders to compete at the highest level with the best coaching and training. The broad partnership will also potentially extend into the summer season.

“Partnering with The Collection gives the Snickers brand a unique and authentic vehicle to connect with a younger audience and become more relevant in their everyday active and individual lifestyles, said Janis Smith-Gomez, Vice President, Marketing, Masterfoods USA. The Collection represents a drive and spirit that is consistent with what the Snickers brand is trying to achieve as the fuel to keep you going and playing.

“The opportunity to team up with a brand like Snickers is huge, says 2002 Winter Olympic Halfpipe Gold Medalist Ross Powers. For the next two seasons Snickers will not only support the team and allow us to compete at the highest level, but also initiate programs like a development program and a charitable tie in. According to Kelly Clark, “The Snickers deal reinforces the value and credibility this team has with the snowboard audience.”

Luke Mitrani will become the fifth member of The Collection, joining Powers, Bleiler, Clark and Finch. The 14-year-old sensation came on the scene in 2001 at the age of nine. Mitrani has posted impressive results; placing in the top 10 at the 2003 US Grand Prix at Breckenridge and finishing second in the rail jam at the ’03 Grand Prix at Mountain Creek, NJ. Mitrani helps the team underscore the importance of the development initiative again designed to ensure up-and-comers have access to the best training, coaching and mentoring in the sport.

Debuted last March at the US Open Snowboarding Championships at Stratton Mountain, VT, the team formed an innovative team-driven model that is on track to alter the current state of snowboarding. The Collection was formed out of a sense of necessity, and the mission of this for riders, by riders union is simple—To establish a cohesive, defined platform that will support current and future leaders in the sport. The addition of Mitrani speaks to the platform of supporting the sport’s leaders, as well as, providing support to the future of snowboarding.

In October ’04 The Collection signed Ricky Bower as the team’s coach, one of the world’s premier coaches and former World Champion. The team will look to possibly expand its roster next season. The Collection’s U.S. base of operations also includes a team-specific coach, physical therapist, team manager, and a custom-designed team motor home.
