Team Summit Still Exists

Team Summit’s Jim Smith heads up one of one of the most successful USSA / USASA affiliated snowboard clubs in Colorado and is getting ready to kick of another winter of riding Colorado’s best parks, pipes, race courses, and powder. This past season Team Summit kicked some serious butt at the USASA Nationals held in Mammoth Mtn., CA with Walker Savage taking the National title in his age group in all Alpine events and 12 year old Dylan Bidez taking the Menehune Boys BoarderCross Championship. Three Team members: Kim Krahulec, Clair Bidez and Walker Savage were named to the 2003 USASA Jr. Nationals Team. This season promises to be even better.

Dryland training has already begun for the competition team with bi-weekly gymnastics sessions combining the experience of gymnastics and snowboard coaches drawing on the talent of the athletes, has the team approaching the season with a fantastic air awareness, strength and a BIG confidence advantage. Our coaching staff includes members with the experience of national competition, professional snowboard careers, PSIA and USSA certified instruction. The Competition Team will again compete locally at the Copper Mtn. Snowboard series accruing points for USASA nationals and in the USSA Pro events around the country!

Team Summits Development team is also poised for a fantastic season. The “devo” team will rack up miles and miles of riding with other riders of the same age guided by the best instructors in Summit county. The kids will develop a riding foundation that will last their snowboarding lifetime. Team members have started in our development groups and gone on to win national titles. All have more fun than any one out there on the hill.

Finally our Masters Team is on point for another great year of progress lead by former 98 / 99 USASA Combined Overall National Champion & now veteran coach Steve Stevenson. Masters athletes hold national titles and have built a healthy, push-each-other-to-progress group. Our youngest master is 18 and our oldest is 50+. These riders attack all snowboard disciplines and have great athletic and competitive success.
