Swatch and the TTR World Snowboard Tour today announce the launch of the Swatch TTR Trophy "Art Rules" Design Contest and sends an open call for artists to design the new TTR trophy and make yourself a name in the design and snowboarding communities around the world. The Swatch TTR Tour is symbolized by its trophy which is presented at the end of the global competitive season to the male and female Swatch TTR World Snowboard Champions. This trophy represents one of the most prestigious awards a snowboarder can obtain in their career.  For the 2010/11 season, a new trophy has been carefully crafted by the renowned German "Coarse" artist Mark Landwehr. The resin statue is 36 cm (14.4 “) high, weighs 4.5 kg (10.5 pounds) and it’s dashing looks make Oscar look downright plain.

Swatch and TTR would like to invite creative minds around the world to participate in the Swatch TTR Trophy 2010/2011 "Art Rules" Design Contest to create a unique design vision that represents the nature of snowboarding and the Swatch TTR Tour.  The design will also be incorporated into the signature 2010/11 Swatch TTR watch that will be produced and distributed worldwide.
Apart from the fame and glory that comes along with being the designer of this unique "Oscar of Snowboarding", the winner will be granted a two week creative vacation to Shanghai, including transportation and accommodation costs plus a little extra pocket money for the trip.  Everyone is invited to participate! The competition is now open and ends on April 25th 2010. The rules and details for submissions can be found on

The designs will be judged by a critical jury of five consisting of the Swatch President Arlette Elsa Emch, the legendary snowboarder and co-founder of the TTR Tour Terje Haakonsen, the President of the TTR Board of Directors Reto Lamm, the “Coarse” toy artist Mark Landwehr and Pascal Johansen, the founder of "Illustrative Berlin".

The streamlined sculptures are hand crafted and finished at the coarse workshops in Hamburg and Hong Kong. The artist focuses on statues that range from small to life size, made from resin or fiberglass. The work also includes photography, prints and objects, combining all aspects to create holistic pieces of art. Pieces that convey an alternate reality. A fiction brand.  As a result of having lived in two separate cultures, Mark Landwehr blends eastern and western aesthetics. A possible explanation for the brand’s popularity worldwide. coarse figures are currently available in art toy stores and galleries across 18 countries worldwide. In 2010, coarse will showcase their latest works in Tokyo, Paris and Chicago.
