STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo., Oct. 21 — The Steamboat Ski Resort is offering reduced pricing, plenty of fun and the best value in the industry for the Holiday Season with a specially priced Millennium Value Package, announced Rod Hanna, senior vice president of marketing for the Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation.
“Some resorts around the world doubled or even tripled their prices during the Millennium,” stated Hanna. “In Steamboat, we have done the exact opposite, reducing the price in this package during the Millennium and Holiday periods. Combine this price with additional value added incentives such as Steamboat’s industry pioneering Kid’s Ski Free(TM) program and special holiday festivities, and vacationers will be hard pressed to find a better Millennium deal within the industry.”
Steamboat’s Millennium Value Package, designed to ensure your wallet is in fine shape for the start of the year 2000, includes five nights accommodations and a four-day lift ticket starting as low as $513* from December 18, 1999 through and including January 2, 2000. This package may be booked through Steamboat Central Reservations at 1-800-922-2722 or online at www.steamboat-ski.com/lodging/millennium.html.
“With our special Millennium package, visitors will pay less than the price of many one-night events in other locations,” said Hanna. “In addition to significant savings, they will enjoy special events and ski their way into the new Millennium in one of the premier ski resort destinations in the world.”
In addition to this fantastic price, getting to the resort couldn’t be easier. Steamboat features nonstop service from Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Newark/NYC, St. Louis and Atlanta as well as convenient one-stop service from around the globe on American, Continental, Northwest, TWA and United Airlines into the Yampa Valley Regional Airport, just 22 miles from the ski area.
The resort is also featuring special mountain top dining including: Hazie’s Millennium Robert Mondavi Winemaker’s Dinner, Ragnar’s Sleigh Ride Millennium Beringer New Year’s Eve Dinner, and, The New Year’s Eve Gala Buffet. All three restaurants are atop the Silver Bullet Gondola with limited availability. Call 970-879-6111, ext. 465 for reservations and additional information. Besides the great savings, Steamboat’s Millennium Week is packed full of activities for both the young and young at heart. On Christmas Eve, Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus and an elf helper will be making fresh tracks in Steamboat’s world-famous terrain taking last minute gift requests before heading back to the North Pole. Santa makes an encore appearance on Christmas Day handing out candy to all Steamboat skiers and riders.
A Kids’ Desperadoes torchlight parade is scheduled for Wednesday, December 29th at 5:00pm. Children use glow sticks and skis down the beginner trail, Headwall, at the base of the ski area. This torchlight parade is for the children enrolled in the Steamboat Desperadoes Ski Week.
The traditional torchlight parade featuring instructors from the Steamboat Perfect Turn Ski & Snowboard School lights up the slopes with unique and interesting patterns at 7:00pm on New Year’s Eve. The lighted spectacular continues at midnight when a breath-taking fireworks show ushers in the year 2000 in traditional Steamboat fashion. This is one of the largest fireworks display in the history of Steamboat Springs and the Rocky Mountain Region.
If that’s not enough to keep you or the family busy, nighttime tubing operations at the ski area base run nightly until 10:15pm, featuring 4 sessions each night. Tickets may be purchased at the Steamboat Ski & Sport, located slopeside in the Sheraton Hotel.
