Soaring Eagle Express Open at Snowshoe

Snowshoe, WV—A crowd of several hundred people gathered at the bottom of the Soaring Eagle Express lift at Snowshoe’s South Mountain area this morning for a ribbon cutting ceremony. OK, so many of those folks were there to try and snatch up a raffle ticket to win a new video iPod. The first 100 people to ride the lift were entered into a raffle of which 10 will win iPods this afternoon inside Soaring Eagle Lodge’s new Hearth Room.

Snowshoe’s newest baby is one of only two new lifts this year in the Intrawest family. The high speed detachable quad replaces the resort’s old Widowmaker lift and reduces the ride time from nine minutes to less than three. The lift was constructed by Doppelmyer CTEC for a cost of approximately 3.3 million dollars.
