SheRide Snowboard Camp comes to DMR

Durango, CO — The traditional ‘women’s week’ takes on a new twist with Durango Mountain Resort’s SheRide Snowboard Camp, February 28 – March 2. SheRide will feature 6 different professional women riders, including Morgan Lafonte, providing the coaching over 3 days. The camp is set up to help women riders improve in a supportive, fun, and confidence building environment.

“I imagined escaping to the Rockies and learning to ride from female pros,” said snowboard instructor and camp organizer Julie Visnich. “The camp concept came from that – a sisterhood of riders helping each other tackle the mountain.”

The camp will be geared towards beginner to intermediate riders, and will include pre-ride stretching and yoga, morning and afternoon sessions, stance and balance evaluation, equipment diagnostics, video analysis and specific skill development for mountain and park. But more than just a training session, the camp is aimed at building confidence and mountain skills in a unique environment.

“It’s all about mutual support and learning to ride as a team,” said Visnich. “You’ll never hear the words ‘just go’ at SheRide. Morgan and our other coaches will share the ways they learned to do it and show the campers how to handle the mountain with confidence.”

Lafonte has won both extreme and big air contests, and has been featured in 7 films as well as on ESPN, Fox and MTV. She has also been an active participant in the Make A Wish Foundation helping terminally ill children.

The camp costs $375, including 3 days lift tickets and coaching, prizes and gear from sponsors Nikita Clothing, Vans, Burton, Inferno Snowboard Shop, Bubba’s Boards, and The Point Radio, and a celebration dinner ($300 without lift tickets). Inferno Snowboards is providing rentals for just $10 per day, with upgrades available. The lodging option includes 4 nights in town with airport transfers, shuttles to DMR, and breakfasts for just $622. Evening rendezvous points will be arranged for group dinners and shopping.

“It’s sisterhood at the speed of life,” finished Visnich. “It’s about empowering riders to take it to the next level.”For more information call 1-800-525-0892 or email For media interested in attending, please contact Matt Skinner at 970-385-2164 or
