South Lake Tahoe, California--Twenty of the best ski/board shops from Northern California and Nevada have been invited to throw down their best tricks in Planet Earth Outerwear’s Shop Wars, a park and pipe battle for total domination held at Sierra-at-Tahoe on Feb. 11, 2006.
Competitors will get 60 to 90 minutes to impress the judges with their best trick in each of these three categories: Halfpipe, Big Air and Rail Jam. Each shop will be allowed one rider per category and there is a limit of four to a team. Before each event riders will be given 30 minutes of practice time followed by the jam session. Judges will base scores on difficulty of tricks, cleanest execution and best style.
All shops are required to register between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. in the Sierra Pub, located in the Main Lodge. The event will be held on Aspen and Aspen West. Winners will be announced immediately following the event. The first place team receives $1,000 and second and third place teams receive gift packages from event sponsors such as Holden, K2, Dragon, Planet Earth, and Celsius.
Only the best of the best will go on to compete in the National Finals at Copper Mountain, Colo. on April 8, 2006. Of the five regional competitions, Planet Earth Outerwear will invite the top four shops from each to attend this competition for ultimate bragging rights.
Again, this event is open to invited shops only and all competitors will need a lift ticket or a season pass to compete. Sierra-at-Tahoe will offer a discounted lift ticket to all competitors. Sierra-at-Tahoe is located on Highway 50, just 12 miles from the 24 hour gaming and nightlife in South Lake Tahoe.
