Pinewski’s Board Shop In Minnestoa Announces Summer Rail Jam

After the extraordinary success of last year’s event, Pinewski’s Ski and Board Shop in Anoka, Minnesota proudly announces its 2005 Summer Rail Jam scheduled for Saturday, July 16.

Last year, the event gathered snowboard enthusiasts from all over the United States for an unprecedented winter sports event in the middle of July. Snow was transported from several ice arenas and spread across a two story ramp with a handrail erected in the middle of Pinewski’s parking lot for this first of its kind event in the heart of the Midwest. Over thirty sponsors and scores of spectators supported the event that received nationwide attention on several websites, a feature article in STUCK Magazine, and a feature news story on KSTP 5 (this story can be viewed on the internet at click on video.)

This year we’re back and bigger than ever with more cash and an improved setup, tearing the door wide open for progression. Snowboarders will be competing in a pro-am format with $1000 cash up for grabs. Twenty-five riders will be invited to compete and there will be space for fifty riders to participate in a last chance qualifier. New for this year will be the addition of the skier category. Twenty-five of the most influential skiers in the Midwest will be invited to battle it out for the top prize of $500 cash.

The focus of this event is to bring the diverse family of Midwest riders all together for one day of fun in the sun in the middle of the off-season. Next year’s gear will also be on display. The public will be able to chat one on one with Midwest sales reps, pre-book orders for 2006 gear, and enjoy some truly spectacular riding that takes the sports of skiing and snowboarding to a level unparalleled by any other event.

Registration for the last chance qualifier will begin at 8:30 am on Saturday, July 16, with preliminaries beginning at 10:00am. The fee to enter the contest is $20. All riders will be required to wear helmets. If a rider is under 18, a parent or guardian must sign a release waiver before the rider competes (the waiver will be available for download at in the near future).

Food and beverages will be available all day, there will be music and a tent city will be constructed with numerous companies giving a sneak peak at 2006 products. This will undoubtedly be the premier event of the summer. Support independent ski and snowboard retailers and BE THERE!!
