Over a Foot of Pow Dumped This Week in Parts of Australia
Just as the last bits of snow are drying up stateside, it's game on for winter in Australia. Over a foot of fresh dumped across Australia this week, and below average temperatures have created ideal conditions for around-the-clock snowmaking at several resorts. Perisher Resort located in the Australian Snowy Mountains, is making use of the new snow and cold weather and is slated to open this weekend, several days earlier than projected.
"We are very excited to be able to provide our guests with some great skiing and boarding options for the opening weekend," said Perisher CEO Peter Brulisauer. "Early season snowfalls and our extensive snowmaking system have allowed us to prepare Perisher for a fantastic start to the season," he continued.
Perisher will have their PlayStation Terrain Park open, and will also have night skiing and fireworks to kick-off the first weekend of winter with a bang.
This snowy start to the 2015-2016 season at Perisher is more than welcomed as the past couple of seasons have had dismal opening days with little, to no snow.
If you're in Aussie-land and gearing up to shred this week, have a look at the snow cams here. Or if you're in the States, these cams provide a birds-eye view into a bit of white fluff. Mmmm, pow.
