March 30, 2000 æ Vans and Switch would like to congratulate team rider Axel Pauporté for his recent win at the Red Bull Xtreme in Verbier, Switzerland this past weekend. Never before has a rider won both Alaska’s King of the Hill and Verbier’s Red Bull Xtreme within the same twelve-month period.

“There was probably nothing more in the world that I was aspiring to, because to most of the riders, this is the most prestigious extreme snowboard competition in the world,” said Pauporté following his win. “Because I’m still the current King of the Hill Champion, that makes me the first person to ever hold both titles at the same time. It’s something that I never even dreamt about.”

The Red Bull Xtreme is one of the most unique and challenging snowboard events in the world as riders are judged on their aggressiveness, difficulty of line, control, fluidity, and overall impression down the 45-55 degree slope of Bec des Rosses. Only the very best riders in top physical condition, with proven track records of freeriding at the highest levels, are invited to this event.
