Park City Mountain Rentals Opens at Legacy Lodge

Park City, Utah – Park City Mountain Resort (PCMR) opens the mountain’smost convenient and advanced ski and snowboard rental facility onMonday, Dec. 20, 1999. Park City Mountain Rentals, located in thebasement level of the Legacy Lodge, is the first retail operation of itskind to be owned and operated by the resort.

“The same friendly service our guests are accustomed to experiencing onthe mountain will be in effect at Park City Mountain Rentals,” said VernGreco, PCMR president and general manager. “That, combined with thehighest quality equipment I’ve ever seen at a rental shop, will makethis shop stand out from the rest.”

Park City Mountain Rentals features Tecnica ski boots, Marker bindings,snowboard equipment by Burton and skis made exclusively for the resortby Volkl. The shop also houses “The Shuttle” — the latest in skituning technology by Winterstieger.

“‘The Shuttle” is so technically precise that skis run through it arereturned to virtually factory-new condition,” Greco said. “In fact, thebest ski manufacturers in the world use ‘The Shuttle’ to finish newskis. Regardless of a skier’s ability, well-tuned skis make theexperience of skiing better and with this machine, Park City MountainRentals will have a significant advantage in this area.”

In addition to Park City Mountain Rentals, restrooms, the seasonallocker room and day storage lockers will also be available for use inthe Legacy Lodge basement level starting Dec. 20.

The opening of the food court on the second level of the Legacy Lodgehas been postponed until mid-January due to construction delays. Toserve base area food and beverage needs in the meantime, the resort haserected a temporary building in the Resort Center Plaza just in front ofthe Legacy Lodge dubbed the “Base Camp.”

Inside the “Base Camp,” guests will find many of the same menu items tobe featured at the Legacy Lodge food court, including homemade soup andchili; deli sandwiches and wraps; a carvery; fresh baked goods; and asalad bar. Guests can also stop in the “Base Camp” for a Coca-Cola orhot chocolate, or simply to warm themselves. The Base Camp is scheduledto open sometime next week.

Park City Mountain Resort, consistently rated among one of the top skiand snowboard resorts in North America, is the official venue of themen’s and women’s alpine giant slalom and all snowboarding events of the2002 Olympic Winter Games.
