Shaun Palmer extreme sports champion, took third overall at the Snapple Superstars held in Montego Bay Jamaica April 7-9. 2000.
Palmer set a new course record in the ocean 100 yard kayak race with a 30 second time and a win in the first event over 2-time defending champion, NY Giants Defensive Back, Jason Sehorn. Palmer also won the one mile bike race just edging out Herman, the herminator, Maier of Austria.
Palmer’s undoing for the title came when he missed a buoy in the sea doo race and had to settle for 5th and only 1 point.
Sehorn went on to capture the overall title for a third year in a row. Herman Maier who edged Palmer in the semis of the obstacle course took second overall and Shaun Palmer claimed third.
Palmer says he wants to come back next year and win it all. Palmer did take home a special award from the title sponsor Snapple: a years supply of the beverage plus a years supply will be donated to his favorite charity. He also won $17,000 for his efforts and was given a watch by the timing company Tissot. All in all not a bad 5 days in Jamaica.
