An article by The Canadian Press shows just how dire the snow situation has become at Cypress Mountain, the venue set to host the Olympic snowboard halfpipe, Snowboardcross, and PGS events. Cypress was hammered by rain earlier in the month forcing the resort to close early in order to preserve snow. The temperatures have continued to be mild with no new snowfall. The Canadian Press article says:

” Winter Games officials have given up on any help from Mother Nature and plan to truck in snow for the freestyle skiing and snowboarding events at Cypress Mountain, on Vancouver’s North Shore.

The Vancouver organizing committee says the forecast suggests there won’t be any new snow falling and they won’t be able to make enough in time for the skiing and snowboarding competitions.”
