Popular North Lake Tahoe Resort Will Offer Best Opening Day Conditions Since Winter 1994-95 Season
TRUCKEE, Calif. – Nov. 18, 2009 – Northstar-at-Tahoe Resort, recently ranked among the top 10 resorts by the readers of Transworld SNOWboarding and among the top 20 in the nation according to the SKI magazine reader poll, today announced it will officially open for skiing and riding for the winter 2009-2010 season on Saturday, November 21.
Early season snowfall and consistently cold temperatures have allowed Northstar® Resort to run North Lake Tahoe’s largest snowmaking system, creating some of the best early season skiing and riding conditions at the North Lake Tahoe resort since the winter 1994-95 season. The National Weather Service forecast calls for a significant storm system to move into the area on Friday, with the possibility of up to a foot of snow accumulation in high elevations.

The resort will kick off the season operating four chairlifts; The Big Springs Express Gondola, Arrow Express, Vista Express and The Big Easy quad chairlifts will begin daily operations from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., providing access to beginner and intermediate ski trails. A variety of terrain park features including boxes and rails will also be offered. Early season lift tickets are available for $45 for adults and young adults, and $19 for children ages five through 12 (under five ski for free).
Additionally, ski and snowboard lessons will be offered for adults and children through the resort’s Ski & Snowboard School. Rental and demo equipment will be available, food and beverage locations at mid-mountain, as well as shopping, dining and ice skating in the Village at Northstar will also be open.
Monday through Friday, from November 30 through December 18, Northstar Resort invites first-timers ages 13+ to learn to ski or ride for just $25. This offer includes a two and a half hour lesson, all-day lift ticket accessing beginner terrain and rental equipment. This package, normally $99, can be purchased in advance online at www.NorthstarAtTahoe.com, or on the day of at the resort’s rental equipment shop, and is available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
