Northstar-at-Tahoe Introduces Third In Its Signature Jib Series

Truckee, California--In an effort to constantly evolve its nationally-ranked parks and pipes, Northstar is introducing a new series of signature freestyle features this season, thanks to the collaboration between Northstar’s expert park and pipe design team, Snow Park Technologies, and select companies that have been chosen as Northstar’s partners.

The third signature feature being added to Northstar’s parks is a giant Wallride sponsored by the Amped 3 video game. Amped 3 was one of only 16 games initially designed for the launch of the Xbox 360 and features authentic snowboarding game play where characters can execute stylish tricks, take white-knuckle sled rides, and experience death-defying crashes. Players can also tweak their tricks, gear, runs, music, and special effects with the precision controls while saving their crew. Each level is modeled after existing ski resorts and Northstar was selected as the home level of the game and is featured at the start of game play.

Northstar also created one of its kid’s Adventure Parks modeling the Amped 3 game, complete with large screen televisions containing screenshots from the game throughout the park.

The Amped 3 Wallride can be found in the park located on Moonshine, off of the Vista Express chairlift. It is a 20-foot wide by 8-foot tall wall that contains a screenshot from the new Amped3 video game. See the attached photo.

This Amped 3 Wallride is just the beginning of many more innovative jibs to be added to Northstar-at-Tahoe’s six terrain parks, which include the first-ever Burton Progression Park to be built in the West. If you missed the first two, Northstar introduced a Matix mega staircase feature and a DC Shoebox that are both ginormous. Stay tuned for more signature features to be announced soon.

Northstar’s terrain parks were ranked seventh in North America by Transworld Snowboarding magazine in its 2006 Reader’s Poll. Snow Park Technologies (SPT) is led by Chris “Gunny Gunnarson and Josh Chauvet, who have designed terrain parks for notable events such as ESPN’s Winter X Games, Vans Triple Crown of Snowboarding, the World Championships of Snowboarding, US Open and numerous resorts throughout North America, Europe, and Asia. SPT played a key role in consulting on game play for Amped 3, along with designing each level. For more information, visit
