The Washington Resort Received Close to 2 Feet of Snow, Allowing it to Reopen for a Few Days this Season.
Mt. Baker Ski Area located outside of Bellingham, Washington, will reopen this weekend, April 16-19 thanks to the 20 inches of snow that Mother Nature dumped on the resort this earlier this week.
"It could make for a great weekend for people to come enjoy the fresh snowfall and yet one more ski day," said Gwyn Howat, Vice President of Operations.
"We're grateful for, hopefully, the last little gasp of winter," she continued.
Mt. Baker had one of lowest snow totals in recent years and had to suspend operations on March 8 due to lack of snow.
While many thought the season was totally over for Baker, it’s pretty rad they get to fire up the lifts for at least one more weekend.
Mt. Baker Press Release:
Great news: we finally received enough snowfall to RE-OPEN THURSDAY APRIL 16th!
We will be in limited operation out of the Heather Meadows Base Area with at least two chairs operating and the handle tow. The forecast looks sunny for Thursday and great for the weekend with blue skies expected Saturday and Sunday.
We'll assess conditions Friday afternoon for the possibility of adding Shuksan arm to the operations for the weekend.
We're looking forward to being back on the snow on Thursday and hope to see you there!
