Wrightwood, CA – November 11, 2010: Mountain High Resort in Wrightwood is OPEN with top-to-bottom skiing and snowboarding. This marks the 14th year in a row they have been the first resort to open in Southern California and they are one of only 10 resorts open in the country. In honor of Veteran’s Day, all veterans and active military are FREE (with proper ID).
Says Karl Kapuscinski. “Winter is our favorite time of year and I’m excited that we were able to open so early. Join us for opening day and help us celebrate the start of the 2010/11 season.”
Early season prices are $40 for adults and $25 for children ages 7 to 12. Kids six and under ski free when accompanied by a paying adult. Tickets will be limited so please arrive early for the best experience. Prices are subject to change without notice
Operating hours are 8:30am to 4pm daily. The Blue Ridge Express lift is available accessing Upper Chisolm, Lower Chisolm and Cruiser which consists of predominately intermediate terrain. More lifts are expected to open tomorrow including Coyote which will access Sunnyside and Easy Street. 100% of the open terrain has been groomed and the coverage is fair to good with an 8 to 12 inch base of fresh, machine made snow. For freestyle skiers and snowboarders there are two small jumps on Upper Chisolm and a number of fun rails and boxes. Cold temperatures and aggressive snowmaking are what lead to this early opening and Mountain High will continue to make snow whenever possible, even during the day, so guests are advised to dress warmly.
